back in medieval times (just in europe, i think? but maybe other places too), animals were tried and punished for crimes
just like humans.
apparently, in 1386, a sow was put on trial and eventually hanged for killing a child. i wonder why it couldn't defend itself
in court...and yeah, that's what this comic is based on
